He could hear those damn words you shared. Those long nights alone in his room with V’s memories, he saw everything. All the emotions that had built up between the two of you finally bubbled up. He presses his lips to yours in a passionate kiss. “God dammit! Is that all you have to say to me?” You finally look up at him, and this is what makes him snap. Every little breath and sniffle makes his heart ache. ![]() Vergil struggles with how to console you, so he decides only to hold you. Fat tears roll down your cheeks as you cry. With your head now on his chest, you begin to sob. It’s gentle, and he tugs you closer to him. ![]() You wouldn’t even understand,” you try to walk away, but you feel his cold grip on your wrist. How can he tell you the truth? How can he even begin to explain? He moves a few steps closer to you, but you put your hand out to stop him. Vergil stutters and he’s at a loss for words. When he doesn’t actually answer you, you scoff softly. You remind him of a happier time in his life. He knows he’s not the easiest person to get along with, and all the pushing away he’s done to you was to protect you from getting your heart broken. He’s grown to love you through V’s memories and just getting to know you casually. You try your best to stifle your crying, but Vergil feels your sadness deep inside of him. “I need to know if I’m ever going to see him again.” “Maybe you think I’m foolish,” you finally break the silence. He has a flash of some of V’s memories and it hurts him. His eyes scan the lined paper, reading every word. He’s confused at first, but then he reads it thoroughly. You blush, looking down at your feet, but you pass him the letter. Vergil looks up at you, and you swear you see love in his eyes when your eyes lock. “I…need to talk to you.” You manage to stutter. It was something new, something exciting. He made you feel a certain way, but you couldn’t really put your finger on it. Something about this man was so much more intimidating than you’d like to admit. Your heart is in your throat at this point. You are reminded of your poetic lover immediately. You make your way to Devil May Cry, letter in hand. You needed to hear the actual words from his damn mouth. You needed to know, even if you recognized how impossible it would be, that you might see him again. It was the straw that broke the camel’s back. He spent most of his time ignoring you or giving you the cold shoulder. But Vergil never let on that he knew anything. You’d blush when you realized that if he did have those memories, he would have known about the intimate moments you spent with V. Sometimes, you wondered if he even had any of V’s memories. It was Dante who tried to reassure you, but it was more difficult to get over this than you first thought. Though you knew the man you loved so dearly was somewhere inside of Vergil, you could never see it. But he had been so cold and so distant with you. Your heart longed for him, and you ached so deep inside of you.ĭespite knowing it wouldn’t quite be the same, you tried desperately to get to know Vergil. You broke down and cried when you read his words of love. Those sweet poetic words on the lined paper…you swore, you could hear them being spoken by your beloved. It was weeks later, when you were cleaning up your room, that you found his letter. The little secrets that were actually so big, they tried to swallow you whole. You knew he was always hiding something from you, but you wanted to ignore these little secrets. The way he so easily charmed his way into your heart, his poetic words which always sparked a flame deep within you. But that fact only made you only love him so much more. You had fallen so hard for him despite being almost complete opposites. It almost killed you inside when you realized you’d never see him again. You’ve been through so much with him in the short time here. ![]()
